“I can’t live if living is without you, I can’t live anymore.”
I was only eleven years old when this song got under my skin, made me dream and fall, even more, in love with him. I know, it sounds completely insane, but whenever I heard it, I imagined how he would gently caress my hair, hold me tight into his protective arms, kiss me softly just like the summer rain, and dance me to the moon and back, never wanting to let me go.
Now you’ll ask yourself “what did a stupid kid like me know about real love?”, but the answer is simple: “everything”.
It is said that, for understanding life better you should spend some time around children, because they have the best answers. And it’s true. I believe they hold the honesty, the courage to speak and act their mind, to ask what they truly need and hunger for, that they know the meaning of the word truth, have gentle and generous hearts, capable of unconditional care and forgiveness, but above all, of unlimited and pure love.
I believe that into the soul of a child lies the wisdom of the entire universe. Children are magic, and they represent what most of us, the adults, lost on the way. On the way of feeling what we don’t feel, of thinking what’s best to think, of becoming what we are not. The older we get, we become more and more introverted, savage, emotionally disabled and incapable of understanding the beauty of the world.
And how I wonder why and where the love goes, because more than twenty years after my childhood story, I lost it too.
“You always smile but in you eyes your sorrow shows. Yes, it shows.”
